Hello from Tim Roos

Greetings all:

I am looking forward to learning with you all through this course.  It is one of my 5th and 6th MET courses I am taking this semester (also taking 530).  Nice to see a few familiar names but I look forward to getting to know each of you.  I am a senior secondary Math and Science teacher currently teaching 6 courses in a K-12 school in Chilliwack, British Columbia.  I am also the teaching technology coordinator and Moodle administrator at my school.

In taking ETEC 522, I hope to become familiar with the business side of learning technology, especially as it relates to online learning.   I believe the future holds promise for those who can construct and market teaching and learning products that show implementation of effective learning theory.  The increasing demand for individualized learning programs, especially at the high school level, will provide ample opportunities for entrepreneurship from an educational perspective.

I am happily married for 18 years and have four children aged 7 to 13.  My family is sacrificing for me as we usually camp throughout North America during the summer but will have to keep that short this summer for these courses.  I enjoy the outdoors and love nature photography.  I will try to add a few picture from our trip last summer.

Wishing each of you the best as we continue the MET challenge,
